Originally an 19th century cattle barn, Gite Hauteloup has been completely renovated to offer spacious accommodation over two floors for up to six people.
There is a large entrance hall with an area for dog beds and a utility area with washing machine. There is also a downstairs toilette with marble-topped wash stand and vasque basin.
The brand new adjoining kitchen/diner has a double oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher and a large island breakfast bar which seats four. There is a large dining table to seat six and a small wide screen television with Freeview box.
The new plafond Francaise – traditional French beamed ceiling – adds extra character to the property. The downstairs area has a tiled floor with underfloor heating for guests wishing to stay during the cooler months.
There is a spacious lounge with two large sofas, plus additional seating by the large patio doors – the perfect spot to sit and admire the view.
There is a large wide-screen television with satellite, offering British and French television channels, and a Blu-ray DVD player with surround sound. We also have wifi, so even in rural France you can stay connected with the outside world.
The upstairs of the property, which is reached by a large wooden open-tread staircase, has wooden floors and traditional Victorian radiators. At the top of the staircase is a beautiful cast-iron wolf or loup in French – which is where the property takes its name from. This was designed for us by a metal worker in our village, along with the gates.
The main bedroom with its open balcony is decorated in French shabby chic style with traditional bedside cabinets, a cast-iron bedstead and a wardrobe. The ceilings are high into the roof, making the rooms spacious and airy. The ensuite claw-footed baignoire offers a touch of luxury.
The second bedroom, reached off a small hallway, has a double bed, bedside cabinets and an old French armoire (wardrobe) and a marble-topped dressing table. There is a spacious ensuite shower room with a large shower with anti-slip shower tray, sink and toilet.
The third bedroom also off the hallway is a twin room with two single beds, a bedside cabinet, armoire and chest of drawers. This also has an ensuite shower room with large shower and anti-slip shower tray, sink and toilet.
Doors lead from the lounge onto a spacious terrace with a garden sofa, chairs and table. The south-facing walled terrace receives sun from first thing in the morning until early evening. The terrace to the rear of the lounge, accessed by patio doors, is in shade in the morning but is sunny from late morning until sunset – a wonderful place to spend the evening. There is a table which seats six and a brick-built barbecue for alfresco dining.
The rear garden is fenced and secure for children and dogs. There is a pretty flower border and patio tubs. The private garden is large with a few shrubs and plenty of space for children to play and dogs to run around.
There is a spacious car park to the side of the house with enough parking for three cars.
We have a large selection of books for both adults and children, DVDs board games, a badminton set, outdoor Jenga and boules / pétanque.
